When Beverly Murphy has to handle an arrogant client and his soft-spoken daughter one rainswept night at Hotel Algiz, she has no idea the encounter will change her life. Not even after she discovers the man’s body hanging lifeless in the room he insisted on taking, and his young daughter, Nia, disappears without a trace.
It is the beginning of a shadowy affair that will force Beverly to dive into the past, using nothing but her wits, courage and determination to solve a mystery with roots that run deeper than the great tree standing outside the hotel. And it all starts with Nia, the sweet girl Beverly spends the day talking to, only to learn from the police that Nia was murdered nearly two decades earlier…
The girl made gentle movements, weaving a few narcissus flowers into Beverly’s hair above her right ear. «Get better soon, Beverly», she whispered. «They’ll try to stop you, but I know you can do it!»
